Head of IT & Business Systems

I’m partnering with a high-growth, globally expanding consumer brand to recruit a Head of IT & Business Systems for their Australian-based leadership team.
This confidential search is for a business operating at a significant eCommerce transaction scale, across multiple markets, currencies, and fulfilment partners. The environment is fast-moving, operationally complex, and heavily dependent on well-architected ERP, eCommerce, and 3PL integrations.
The organisation is entering its next phase of global expansion and is building an IT and systems function that is scalable, secure, intelligent, and commercially aligned.
As Head of IT & Business Systems, you will define and execute the global IT strategy for a scaling international business built on substantial transaction volumes across DTC (Direct to Consumer), wholesale, and marketplace channels.
This role is suited to a leader/engineer who has operated inside high-volume eCommerce brands and understands the system pressures created by:
- High order throughput
- Complex SKU structures and product bundling
- Multi-warehouse and multi-region fulfilment
- Tight inventory controls across 3PL networks
- Real-time financial reconciliation
This is a strategic leadership role requiring hands-on capability across integrations, middleware logic, ERP structures, and 3PL data flows.
Background & Expereince
Candidates who have:
- Led IT or business systems within high-transaction eCommerce brands
- Worked closely with 3PL partners and understand warehouse system integrations
- Built or optimised ERP + Shopify + 3PL integration ecosystems
- Managed EDI integrations for major retail partners
- Resolved inventory sync failures, fulfilment latency, and reconciliation leakage
- Improved margin visibility through well-designed systems architecture
Key Responsibilities
Global IT & Systems Architecture
- Design scalable architecture to support multi-entity, multi-currency, multi-region growth.
- Rationalise and optimise ERP, eCommerce, 3PL, EDI, finance, and BI integrations.
- Build systems capable of sustaining high daily transaction volumes with reliability.
3PL & Fulfilment Systems Optimisation
- Own integration architecture between ERP, Shopify, middleware (Celigo or equivalent), and 3PL systems.
- Reduce manual workarounds across inventory sync, ASN flows, and order fulfilment.
- Improve real-time stock visibility and reduce reconciliation gaps.
- Establish performance SLAs and monitoring frameworks across fulfilment networks.
Cybersecurity & Governance
- Lead cybersecurity posture review and remediation roadmap.
- Implement governance across access control, backup, vendor risk, and compliance.
Digital Systems & AI Enablement
- Improve product bundling logic and SKU governance across NetSuite, Shopify, and 3PL environments.
- Identify AI-led efficiencies in forecasting, reporting, demand planning, and automation.
- Reduce operational friction through intelligent workflow redesign.
Candidate Background
- 3+ years in IT systems leadership within high-transaction commerce businesses.
- Deep ERP expertise (NetSuite preferred).
- Strong integration architecture experience (Celigo, Boomi, Mulesoft, or similar).
- Proven hands-on experience with 3PL system integrations and warehouse operations.
- Strong understanding of inventory flows, margin reporting, and reconciliation complexity.
- Experience operating across DTC + wholesale hybrid environments.
- Commercially astute — understands how system design impacts margin and growth.
